Holly Ransom Big Ideas Breakfast
The gathered audience of students, parents, staff, alumni and friends heard an empowering and thought provoking presentation from Holly Ransom on Tuesday 19 April. Holly’s long and illustrious career started as a 10 year old in Perth, who when faced with a man begging for food on the street, set about trying to make a difference. This set her path for the future, working to empower young people and encourage young people to take positions of leadership and drive change. With 30% youth unemployment in Australia and higher rates around the world, Holly encourages young people to take risks, possess a growth mindset and pursue continuous learning and improvement. In 2014, the Australian Prime Minister appointed Holly to chair the G20 Youth Summit, resulting in the first summit to secure its policy demands from G20 leaders. With 42% of jobs set to be automated in Australia in the next 10 years, young people will see a complete transformation of the workplace and Holly believes the key drivers for the future are thinking globally, building resilience and social engagement. Holly encourages everyone to actively pursue internships, build relationships and have mentors that will help and guide a career and provide constructive feedback when there are roadblocks along the way.
