Share the Dignity
On Monday 29 February, alumni Zoe Koulouris (’09) returned to Ivanhoe Grammar School and presented at the weekly Charities Meeting. Zoe works for Cottons and explained to the assembled students and staff the partnership that Cottons has with the charity, Share the Dignity.
Share the Dignity aims to provide homeless and at risk women nationally with sanitary products to allow theme a sense of dignity at a time when they need it most. Her presentation was well received and the School is committed to working with Cottons and Share the Dignity.
Zoe said, “Having attending Ivanhoe Grammar for my entire high school and still being so closely involved in the Old Ivanhoe Netball Club, I would love to see my school get hands-on with something that is so important for so many people. Together we can make a difference and open up discussion across all year levels regarding homelessness and domestic violence and help bring about a real change in these women’s lives. These issues are important for men and women, boys and girls alike and I know, from what I know of Ivanhoe Grammar School and its students, is that they are passionate about their community and helping those who are less fortunate.”
During the months of April and August Donation Bins will be placed in communal spaces within the School grounds and students and staff will be encouraged to donate sanitary products. Cottons will match the Schools donations with their own products and together we can make a real difference to the Share the Dignity campaign.
Ivanhoe Grammar School focuses on service which is supported by numerous projects, local and international, giving students encouragement and opportunity to get involved in actions that help others and to understand the value of giving to the community. Students work with many charities both locally and overseas, whether it be fundraising for health or humanitarian issues, handing out blankets to the homeless on the streets of Melbourne or building houses in Cambodia.
