Volleyball Teams shine and Girls’ Tennis serve up a win
Both the girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams backed up their good performances from the previous week with two more victories.
In the girls’ match against Wesley, Cara Eddings (Yr 11), Anna Say (Yr 12) and Noura Tawfic (Yr 12) all played extremely well, and they had great support from Maddi Barnewall (Yr 12 & captain), Bertie Frew (Yr 12), Emily Beanland (Yr 9), Taylor Langford (Yr 9) and Elly MCInerney (Yr 9). Despite dropping the 3rd set, the girls won the other 3 sets quite comfortably. Well done girls!
The boys were equally impressive against Peninsula winning their match 3-1. The boys dominated the first two sets, however after a mental lapse in the 3rd set, the boys regrouped and came away with a reasonably smooth victory in the 4th set. Once again our setters Finbar Conlan and Alex Mirkov played important roles in the win, with Ashish Vincent starting to use his athleticism and become an important factor too.
With only one loss to date, the team is now a good chance of making the finals and possibly contending this year. Keep up the good work boys. Training does pay off!!
The girls’ Tennis Team had their first win of the season on Saturday in an away game against Yarra Valley Grammar. Winning 11 of the 16 sets it was a great result for the team with 4 new members playing compared to the same team that beat Yarra Valley Grammar last year. In cold conditions, the girls dominated the doubles winning 6 of the 8 matches. The highlight match for the day was the number 8 singles where Hannah Dalgleish came from 3-0 down to win the match 9-7.
