OIG Cricket Club play ball with Urban Seed
The OIGCC led by new President Ryan Pearce ’01 connected with Andreana Reale ’02 (Manager and Funds Coordinator at Urban Seed) following the OIG Centenary Weekend held in March this year.
,, This connection was further developed on Wednesday 4 November when members of the OIGCC played a ‘Laneway Cricket’ tournament in Baptist Place in Melbourne with people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation affiliated with Urban Seed. This type of direct community engagement and development seeks to build relationships with and remove stigmas around our most vulnerable members of the community. The OIGCC had a great time playing some cricket in an interesting location and meetings some new friends!
Ryan shared his thoughts on the day: “It was fantastic to see a number of our members take the time to support the Urban Seed Laneway Cricket concept this week, community engagement is important to our club & this opportunity stemmed from our links to Ivanhoe Grammar School. Urban Seed are doing terrific work & the OIGCC look forward to supporting them again in the near future.”
