Library Leaders Sweet Stall
Recently, our hard-working group of Library Leaders held a sweet stall over several lunchtimes to raise money for books for a school library in Vanuatu.
The students made honey joys in our Food Technology kitchen, whilst other members of our School community helped the cause by kindly contributing more honey joys, choc chip cookies, ANZAC slice and chocolate crackles.
The students raised a total of $250 and this was used to buy books at a local bookshop to send to Central School in Vanuatu.
The library at Central School was totally devastated when Cyclone Pam hit the Pacific region in March this year, leaving 1000 students in urgent need of learning materials.
From the funds raised, our students selected 18 picture and chapter books to send to Central School. They were delighted to be able to pick some of their own childhood favourites like Hairy Maclary, Tashi and Maisie. The Library Leaders also inscribed each book with positive reading messages and put a special Aussie bookmark in each book.
The books will now be delivered to Vanuatu courtesy of Eltham Bookshop.
