Interactive Music Masterclass
Transforming the Education Digital Supply Chain (TtEDSC) and Monash University have provided senior students with the opportunity to participate in a series of interactive Music lessons. The lessons were conducted by internationally renowned performers and music educators from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University, including Associate Professor Merlyn Quaiffe AO – Classical Voice, Stephen Magnusson – Guitar and Kenji Fujimura – Piano.
Each two hour masterclass catered for up to four individual students who received tuition on their instrument/voice in the presence of interactive and/or auditing classroom audiences. The individuals and class groups were situated in various sites around Australia, with up to four interactive schools connecting live with each event, and additional auditing schools. There was also an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of each session. Schools from Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and ACT as well as Victoria participated.
We had four students from Plenty Campus performing this year: Jack Simsek on Guitar, Rose Kenney and Casey Davine – classical voice, and Anthony Gioffre on piano. Music students from Year 10, 11 and 12 were invited to attend as an interactive audience. All students performed extremely well and received positive feedback from the tutors.
These master classes provide a wonderful opportunity for our students to work with and listen to world class musicians, and all those attending gained a great deal from the experience.
