Monologues and More than Words
On Wednesday 17 September, the annual More Than Words concert was held at the School, which features vocal soloists and choir performances showcasing the amazing array of singing talents of Ivanhoe students.
Students from Primay through to Secondary auditioned for their roles and those who were selected also participated in two workshops facilitated by Kathryn Sadler, prior to the Concert. Kate is an experienced and renowned vocal coach and composer and her work with the students in preparing their songs was invaluable to their final polished performances.
Prior to More Than Words, the VCE Unit 4 students presented their examination monologues, by way of a try-out for the pending exam in October. The Monologues were performed in the new Drama Studio at ArtsEdge. There were four diverse performances of very contrasting pieces, separated by two musicians who performed a solo on the oboe and cello respectively. The performances made an enormous impact on the assembled audience and the responses to the work have been glowing.
Both the monologues and the Concert were a wonderful success and a highlight of the School calendar each year. It is a credit to both the staff and students at Ivanhoe whose dedication made these events possible.
