Visit from the Reserve Bank
On Tuesday 3 June, Year 12 Economics students took part in a presentation by Reserve Bank economist Tom Rosewall regarding the operation of monetary policy in Australia.
,, Mr Rosewall outlined to the group the latest trends and strategies underpinning the Reserve Bank’s policy settings. He also gave an insight into the role that economists play in analysing data when making recommendations about current and future policy settings.
Students were given the opportunity to question him. Issues such as the impact of the recent Commonwealth Budget on the economy, the Reserve’s attempts to re-balance growth and the impact of monetary policy decisions on external stability amongst others were raised.
Students were most appreciative of Mr Rosewell’s presentation and a solid foundation has now been laid as they enter the monetary policy section of their studies.
