The Middle Ages come to Ivanhoe
Medieval Day is an annual event enjoyed by many at Ivanhoe Grammar School. On Wednesday 26 February middle years' students were able to experience medieval culture and practices first hand and everyone got the opportunity to dress-up in medieval dress. The campus was populated with serfs and peasants as well as executioners, knights, ladies, lords, bishops and kings.
Medieval games were played and students got to try on armour, learn medieval dances and even got the chance to re-enact battle scenes on the lawn.
The day ran smoothly and the students were truly engaged in each session. Medieval History is a major component of the Year 8 Humanities curriculum and this full day of activities not only complements classroom teaching but brings history alive in an enjoyable and memorable manner.
The event would not have been possible without the time, assistance and cooperation of the many staff involved and the day's success is testament to their assistance.
