Swimming Team Makes Waves at Ivanhoe District Championships
Congratulations to the Buckley House School Swim Team for their stellar performances at the recent Ivanhoe District Swimming Championships.
Since the beginning of the school year, our swim team has been putting in relentless effort, training twice a week to hone their skills and enhance their performance in the pool. The commitment and determination of the 27 talented swimmers who competed have been nothing short of inspiring, and it was evident in the remarkable results they achieved at the championships.
All team members delivered exceptional performances, most achieving personal best times while showcasing their immense talent.
At this meet, the top two swimmers in every event secured qualification to the next level, the highly competitive Banyule Division Championships. Many of our swimmers achieved this qualification. Just as impressive is the stellar performance of our relay teams. Out of the six relay teams representing Buckley House, an astonishing five finished in the top two positions, earning them a well-deserved spot in the next level of competition. This collective success highlights the teamwork, camaraderie, and support our swimmers demonstrated on the day.
We are also thrilled to announce that the overall results of our group were so outstanding that both the girls and the boys were successful in earning the overall champion school trophy. This is the first time in many years that Buckley House has won both trophies, marking a great achievement for the school and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our swimmers.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr McInerney and Mr Keuneman for their unwavering support and exceptional management of the team. Their dedication and guidance have been instrumental in nurturing our swimmers and fostering a positive and encouraging environment for them to thrive. Furthermore, we would like to thank the exceptional coaches from the Ivanhoe Swim, whose encouragement, and tireless efforts played a pivotal role in shaping our swimmers’ skills and preparing them for success at the championships.
We wish the 21 talented young athletes who qualified to the next level good luck as they prepare to represent Buckley House at the upcoming Division Championships. With their determination, passion, and teamwork, we have every confidence that they will continue to make us proud.
