IB Results – The Story is Now Complete
In 2023, a number of Year 12 students at Ivanhoe Grammar School chose to undertake the well-respected International Baccalaureate (IB) to expand their options for tertiary education. The dedication and hard work for these students were realised today with the release of the IB results. Congratulations to all students, we are extremely proud of their achievements.
In particular, we would like to congratulate our IB Dux Mei Gethen who achieved an ATAR 98.8 which places Mei in the top 1.2% of the State.
Ivanhoe Grammar School IB students have once again produced an excellent set of academic results. We are very proud to share:
- 38% of IB students attained an ATAR of 95 or above (top 5% of the State)
- 54% of the IB students attained 90 or more (top 10% of the State)
- 85% of the IB Class of 2023 received an ATAR above 80
- The IB Median ATAR is an impressive 91.5.
With the release of the IB results, we can now provide a consolidated picture of the academic outcomes and successes of the Class of 2023. Students completing their Year 12 studies at Ivanhoe Grammar School, have once again collectively performed to a high standard with many achieving their personal best. Congratulations to all students, we are extremely proud of their achievements.
Although we acknowledge all our students for achieving their best, I would like to recognise our Duces with exceptional ATARs. Once again, congratulations to our Dux of VCE at each campus in each receiving exceptional results alongside Mei Gethen as our IB Dux. Well done Johnny Chen from Ivanhoe Campus who achieved an ATAR of 99.95 (a perfect score, Johnny is one of only 39 VCE students in the State to achieve this) and Avriel Das from Plenty Campus who achieved an ATAR of 99.40.
Congratulations is extended to all our students from both campuses, as we achieved on a consolidated basis (VCE and IB):
- 8.6% of students attained an ATAR of 97.5 (top 2.5% of the State)
- One in four of students achieved an ATAR over 93 (top 7% of the State)
- Ninety-five students attained an ATAR over 90 (top 10% of the State)
- 60% achieved an ATAR of 80 or above (top 20% of the State)
- 84 is the ATAR median for our students
- There were 29 combined perfect VCE subject scores and IB grades of 7 (highest possible grade).
As an open-entry school, students of all abilities are a part of our School community. Although the results above share some of our top achievements, the importance of celebrating the personal best of all our students cannot be underestimated. I congratulate all students who have worked to their capacity and thank the dedicated teaching staff who have supported them.
Further details about our Year 2023 results and student destinations will be published in February 2024 after all university offers have been made to our students.
We are extremely proud of our Class of 2023, who once again faced such a difficult year. These students showed great maturity and empathy for others. Each and every member of this year level is an exemplary young person of character. We wish them success in their future endeavours, and they will hold a special place in the history of our School.
