MasterTech
MasterTech is a week-long immersive experience that provides unique opportunities for students to explore and develop valuable skills for the future. The program, a collaboration between Ivanhoe Grammar School and La Trobe University’s Digital Innovation Hub, is a feature of the University Campus Out of Class Program. During the MasterTech Program, 13 Year 9 students were tasked with building applications and games using Godot and Unity. They were also challenged to create immersive experiences using JoinXR and the Microsoft Hololens, helping them develop practical skills and building upon their knowledge of cutting-edge technology.
Shayden, one of the program’s participants, said, ‘MasterTech provided unique opportunities and an incredibly engaging program that I loved the whole way. On top of serving life-long technology skills that built upon my own understanding, it also gave access to cutting-edge technologies such as the Microsoft Hololens and allowed extensive freedom to work very productively, especially when working in a team. I genuinely loved MasterTech and would absolutely do it again.’
Similarly, Will found the program a valuable experience, saying, ‘The MasterTech program was a great opportunity to further build on the knowledge and learning from elective classes like Digital Technology and Transformative Technology. I also found it to be a really interesting and valuable experience to be in the shoes of a potential University student at La Trobe University.’
