Buckley House 2022 Cross Country Season
The Cross-Country season started at the beginning of Term 2 with many opportunities for our runners to compete. The House competition ran for students in Years 3 – 6 with the top ten placegetters in the under 10, 11 and 12-year-old age groups getting the chance to compete at the Ivanhoe District and the AGSV Cross Country events. Ivanhoe had ten students who qualified at the District Championships to compete in the Banyule Division Championships, where six students came in the Top 12 to progress through to the Northern Metropolitan Regional Championships.
The Northern Region Championships were held on a wet and windy day at Bundoora Park. Our students performed admirably with a very high standard of races made up of the best 70 athletes from the northern region of Melbourne. All the Ivanhoe competitors finished in the top half of the field. Zara, Jimmy, and Leonardo all ran a PB race to finish around 30th. Louis battled strongly finishing 13th, agonisingly one spot outside the Top 12 that was needed to qualify for the next Terms State Finals. The exciting news is that we will be represented at the State Titles by Bowie who came 2nd in the Under 10 boys and will compete in the State Finals early next term. Good luck Bowie!
