Year 11 student at Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Ivanhoe Grammar School student Demetri Spyropoulos will be performing as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Demetri is in Year 11 and a member of LOL Squad; a group of performers aged between 14 and 18 who, with the help of professional comedy mentors, develop, write, direct and act in original comedy sketches for the web. For LOL Squad Live, they will perform those sketches in front of a live audience at The Arts Centre.

LOL Squad is an alumni group of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival development initiative, Class Clowns; a program that seeks fresh young stand-up comics from across Australia. The competition offers its participants, all aged 14-18, the chance to perform at the prestigious international festival, as well as mentorship and other performing opportunities. Demetri first entertained the idea of pursuing comedy in early 2016 when he began watching the comedy of Bo Burnham and his mum came across an advertisement for the Class Clowns program. He entered the 2016 competition and went through to the state finals. This year, he will be competiing in the Grand Final on the 21st April at Melbourne Town Hall.

LOL Squad Live opens on Tuesday 4th April at The Arts Centre. Book your tickets here.
