Welcome 2016 Captains

A new school year is always an eventful time and adding to the excitement is the announcement of the new School Captains. Following a selection process involving students and staff, Prefects were announced and inducted at the end of last year. These prefects then attended leadership training designed to equip them with all the skills they will need to serve as effective members of the student leadership team. Following this training, the Heads of Campus each selected two students to serve as Captains.

The 2016 Captains are Will and Noura and Tom and Laney.

Will started his journey at Ivanhoe in the Early Learning Centre and has taken full advantage of all that an Ivanhoe Education has to offer. Passionate about the Arts, Will has participated in numerous musicals and is also accomplished at playing the violin and piano. He has also shown an aptitude for leadership becoming a Cadet Unit Officer in 2012. An accomplished orator, Will has also received many awards for debating.

Noura has attended Ivanhoe since Year 1, quickly making her mark as a conscientious and enthusiastic student. Not only has she excelled academically over her time at Ivanhoe but she has also been involved in many co-curricular activities. An avid sportswoman, she has represented the School in soccer and volleyball. She has a passion for service work and has been involved in many service projects such as The Breakfast Club and Urban Camp.

Tom began his life at Ivanhoe in Year 4 and established himself as a well-rounded student displaying strengths in a range of academic and co-curricular areas. He has been involved with snow sports, athletics and cross country as well as showing an aptitude for Science and Mathematics. Tom was the recipient of the VCE Unit Awards for Biology, Chemistry, Legal Studies and Geography in 2015.

Laney is an award-winning student who started School in Year 7. She was Dux of the Plenty Campus in 2014 and Proxime Accessit in 2015. She has fully embraced all aspects of School life representing the School in softball and debating, has been an SRC Representative along with a flourishing involvement in music – singing in four musicals. A confident French linguist, Laney was the recipient of the VCE Unit subject Award for French in 2015.

There is no doubt that all four Captains will represent the School extremely well and carry out their responsibilities with pride and commitment. Ivanhoe Grammar School congratulates Will, Noura, Tom and Laney on their appointment and looks forward to the exciting year ahead.
