National Indoor Cricket Championships

After a successful Nationals tour last year in Dubbo in the Under 14 Division, Year 9 student Emma was picked to represent Victoria at the Nationals Championships in MacKay.

The tournament ran from July 1 – 9 and Emma’s team played 10 games against the best teams in the States. Having taken out the previous year’s title at the National Championship, Emma and her team were hungry for more.

“We started training months before and we worked hard as a team so we could have the best chance of claiming back-to-back titles. With many ups and downs, my team ended up making the finals finishing in third spot on the ladder. We won our elimination final by a run on the last ball. We continued on our high and beat NSW in the semi-final ensuring us a spot in the grand final. Sadly, we lost our grand final to Queensland but each of us were proud of ourselves and what we achieved in the long week.

“The tournament was heaps of fun as it always is and I enjoyed getting the chance to play in another indoor cricket national championship. We learnt so many new things about the game and we will continue to work hard as a team to hopefully go one better next year and bring home the national title!”

Congratulations Emma and well done!
