Medieval Day

Medieval day is always an exciting time for students and staff and this year was no exception. Held on Wednesday 20 April at Plenty Campus, it was a fun and informative day for Year 8 students who were able to immerse themselves in this period of history.

Complementing the Humanities Year 8 course perfectly, students had a fun and informative day, experiencing medieval culture and practices first hand through dress-up in medieval dress – there were serfs and peasants as well as executioners, knights, ladies, lords, bishops and kings.

Medieval games were played and students got to try on armour, learnt medieval dances and even got the chance to re-enact battle scenes on the lawn.

The day was a big success and students were truly engaged in each session. Medieval History is a major component of the Year 8 Humanities curriculum and this full day of activities not only complements classroom teaching but brings history alive in an enjoyable and memorable manner.

Traditionally a feast is held in the middle of the day and students and staff sat down to a delicious lunch.

The event would not have been possible without the the help of the many staff involved and the day’s success is testament to their hard work and dedication. Click here to view photos from the day
