Knitting For The Community

Knitting is a past time often associated with an older generation, however The School Library recently formed a knitting club which encourages students, staff and parents to direct their knitting energy towards making scarves, beanies, children’s toys, blankets and more for ‘Knit One Give One’.

This local organisation began in 2004 and has since distributed over 160,000 knitted items to people in need such as those who are experiencing homelessness, refugees, children who are at risk, remote Indigenous communities, women in refuges and families struggling to make ends meet.

The knitting club will meet every Wednesday at The Ridgeway Campus Library and invites knitters of all levels to meet like-minded members of the community, share knowledge and skills, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and most importantly to contribute to a worthwhile cause.
