Heroic Rescue

Year 8 student, Ben was involved in a very heroic rescue on Australia Day when he and another teenager helped a man in the sea off the Rye foreshore who had been knocked unconscious by his jet ski.

Thankfully, due to the boys quick thinking the man was pulled to shore and safety by a nearby patrol boat without any further injuries. The man had been in the water for approximately two hours and would have drifted further out into Port Phillip Heads. The two teenagers are members of the Rye Yacht Club and are experienced in the water.

If it wasn’t for Ben and his friend’s initiative on the day this incident could have ended in tragedy. The School is very proud of Ben and his friend and the courage they showed in the face of adversity.
