Equestrian success at Nationals

The National Interschool Championships attracts more than 2000 school based competitors aged 5 -18 years old from around Australia. Competitors are required to qualify through from the State Interschool Championships to the National Interschool Championships.

Year 12 student Isobel and Year 10 student Jess from Plenty Campus competed at the National Championships during the Term 3 break.

Jess was a member of the Victorian team which competed at the Interschool National Championships in NSW and qualified to compete on two horses. Blackhall Park Surprise and Blackhall Park Roxy. Blackhall Park Surprise placed 5th in the One Round Stakes, 4th in the A2 and 5th in the Grand Prix. Blackhall Park Roxy placed 1st in the A2, 10th in the One Round Stakes and also placed well in the Grand Prix. Jess placed 3rd and 4th in the overall Individual Championships and was a member of the Reserve Champion Show Jumping team. A great result.

Isobel was a member of the Victorian Tetrathlon Team which competed at the National Championships in Adelaide over the last weekend of the holidays. This event involves running, swimming, shooting and horse riding. The horse riding component includes a Show Jumping course as well as cross country obstacles. Isobel placed 4th overall in the individual section and the team of 6 riders from Victoria won the National titles – what a fantastic achievement!
