Recently the Buckley House Aerobics team competed at the State (Primary) Aeroskools finals held at the Bendigo Bank Centre in Diamond Creek. It was a big day with the Bus leaving at 7:20am and returning at 4:30pm. There were over 150 performances from around 500 participants across approximately 30 schools.
The Buckley House 30 strong team is made up of 29 girls and 1 boy who all trained super hard for this event, every Monday night since February!
After performing at our internal school competition late last term, all team members felt excited and ready to go for these championships. The students all competed wonderfully pulling out personal best performances during their routine.
We had two pairs win their section we also had 4 pairs/groups actually qualifying for the National Finals at the Gold Coast in September. This event clashes with our big school production at the end of the term so these groups may not take up the offer, however, it was exciting to see so many groups do so well.
The final bit of exciting news was that we managed to finish 2nd in the ‘Victorian Champion School’ award, a great effort considering the school that won had 80 competitors compared to our 30.
Thanks again must go to our coaches, almost all of them are current or ex-students who are from Melbourne Gym Sports. The team would really like to thank Alice, Bek, Georgia, Audrey, Amelia, Sarah and Jaime for all their hard work coaching and preparing the individual teams and pairs.
