2015 French Poetry Competition

Earlier this year, students from Years 7 and 8 took part in the annual Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition conducted by the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne. The Competition provides students with an opportunity to practice the French language and attracts thousands of candidates each year.

There are two categories, oral (Years 3-10) and written (Years 11 and 12) and an additional “nouveauté” a drawing competition for the Primary level participants.

Each student is assigned a poem, from a choice of four, which they must memorise and recite in front of an external examiner. All participants receive a certificate and prizes are awarded to the first, second and third place winners of each level. The results from the competition were awarded on Friday 24 July and the following students received a ‘brilliant’ recitation of the French poem they memorised and have been invited to recite their poem in front of the French community at a later date.
