Student Leadership Training

Open Firsts coaches identified a valued group of Ivanhoe students as student leaders within our Sport Program. It was agreed that these students will all play a significant role in the direction of our Firsts sports teams this season, and into the future.

Our sports leaders were invited to a leadership training session, that took place on the morning of Wednesday 20 March. The Sports Leadership Training Session was designed to enhance leadership skills both on and off the sporting arena. Through an interactive workshop, discussions, and activities, students learned valuable leadership techniques that can be applied in sport, in the classroom, and beyond. Additionally, they had the chance to connect with other student leaders who have a shared passion for sport and leadership. The session was run by ex-AFL player, Jim Plunkett and ex-netball Diamond, Sharelle MacMahon who both have enormous experience in professional sports leadership.

At Ivanhoe, we deeply value the role of sport in developing leadership qualities such as teamwork, communication, resilience, and all aspects of the Ivanhoe Learner model. We continually strive to enhance our program for all students, and empowering our student leaders is a positive step in the right direction.

Participation in this training session, students not only invest in their own personal growth but also contribute to the culture of leadership. Congratulations to all the new Student Sport Leaders.
